Power Cords - what's your favorite?

Mikado463

This thread was was moving along fine until you showed up with your snarky, condescending posts.

You are no more than a troll.

check out post #129 young man, nothing more than a mere poke at Stereogeeks post before. Sorry that an ounce or two of levity got your panties in a bind :S

Enjoy your weekend in the 'swamp' !

Ok, lets all (myself included) allow this thread to return to it's normally scheduled programming .....

jade, sorry, not my intent. Obviously got a little carried away with the 'back and forth'. With regards to your comment about 'not hearing a difference' I know full well that wire can be manipulated and made to sound different but I also fully understand that solid fundamental principals of science and engineering need not cost what a car did 30-40 years ago !

As for my using the term 'audio fool' I did so in a broad scope generalized manner and I stand by it, having been in this hobby for over a half century I've observed plenty !

He has seen it all and knows it all.

I own 3 Audioquest Dragons. One is the HC the other 2 are source. All get plugged into my Niagara 7000. I have tried so many power cords through the years and to me these are the best, especially used with the Niagara 7000.

I saw the biggest difference at digital source (streamer/DAC) with a Shunyata Zitron Digital, with a Zu Event 2nd to that one. I haven't tried too many different cables on the amps, but of the handful I tried the Transparent gave me the best impression.

Ive been enjoying a full loom of Galileo SX on components and a Galileo SRX on the Galileo Powercell SX since about 2019 and am happy as I could be.
Replaced a similar loom of Wireworld Platinum 8 which sounded compressed and brittle compared to the Synergistic Research. A exceptionally musical PC, imho.
(Mike...sorry this took eight years to get you an answer)

Not all AC power cords are good cords!
Cords are mis-manufactured with problems like:
a] swapped Hot & Neutral
b] Safety Ground/Protective Earth not connected at both ends
c] not all fine wire strands crimped
d] bad plug terminals that don't make or maintain good low resistance contact.
None of these errors should happen but they repeatedly do.

If you are using an outlet strip or distribution box, place it near your hi-fi system then use short cords to your components.

almost all 120 Volt home hi-fi systems will be happy on one 15 or 20 Amp circuit.

I have been mostly a Nordost guy but have slowly changed more and more of my power cords to Ansuz. Going from Tyr 2, Valhalla 2 and Odin to Ansuz C2 and D2. That has been a well worth upgrade for me. I find the Ansuz cables to deliver better results from top to bottom and lower noise floor.
I see some have great results with Jorma Prime. I have Jorma Prime interconnects and speaker cables which I truely love (also replaced Nordost), but I have strangely enought never tried the Prime PCs, go figure… Would be interesting to compare the Prime PCs to the Ansuz some time.

Supra LoRad MD08 EU/SP arrived.

From totall mess to more order than the Empire of Star wars.. 😊

Dankeschon, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw pic. #2 - the more orderly wire organization!

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can organize cables from multiple components behind their rack and make it look clean. But the back of that rack looks way better than mine. (For reference, I have the power cords for two components suspended in the air by bungee cords hooked to the fireplace handles. That alone should give an indication of the rat's nest that lurks back there.... Sometimes I find myself tempted to chuck a couple of logs in the fireplace and see if that might clean things up a bit...

Oops, I forgot to answer the question of which PC's are my favorites - Anticables Level 3 and Shunyata Venom in my very modest system. I haven't tried pricier cables, so I have no expertise as to how much improvement I might get by spending more.

I have tried many, but most happy with Straight Wire Pro Thunder on amps, preamp, and streamer. Nice and flexible, good solid connection into the component, and sounds amazing.

I don't remember if I've posted here, but I use Supra Silver, and Audioquest Nrg Y something. And a Supra Lorad power strip with power cleaning two outlets without purifier for my Amps and surge protector.

what ever power cord you choose be sure to get these to further enhance your sonic bliss !

I have actually been communicating with Ted all week after an ad I posted for some Vintage SR Speaker Cables blew up with over 100 negative remarks where none were asked for. He posted in my defense as well as his own since he made the cables himself.
