Ha! I was going to ask if someone got the new re-issues. Do you know if these are these from the analog tapes? Soundstage Direct says it is, but not many other sites do. Have any of the older reissues to know how the new ones compare?

Allan - I have the Zeppelin IV reissue (the $300 one). Even though these are completely different albums, I would say the SQ is on par. I may even give the edge to this one. It's dead quiet and dynamics are excellent. The clarity of the recording buries the crappy CD of Zep I I have.

They were not cut from the analog tapes. The actual re-mastering engineer John Davis, not Jimmy Page, explained the process himself on the Hoffman forum. I have I and II on the way as my originals are pretty well trashed from college. Not a Zep fanatic, but worth adding to the collection.

Thanks Mike. I'll be ordering my copy of Zep II momentarily. I totally forgot about it and now I'm kicking myself because I too could be spinning it.

Thanks, Mike. I also have Zep IV reissue (the $300 one) and want to save that for my son and want to get something good to play. Of course, I don't have a TT to play it on, but that's another story!

Jack, thanks for confirming what I suspected. Acoustic Sounds is usually pretty good about describing their media, so when they didn't say it came from analog tapes, it had me wondering...

If you want it Soundstage Direct is less than 50 miles from you in Doylestown and they have a 10% discount code if you are a member of AK or Agon. I ordered mine at 2pm and they were shipped before 5pm.

Nice! I didn't realize they were that close to me. Do they have a retail store there or just warehouse?

You can generally stop in - they have a small area with turntables on display for demo and will retrieve what ever vinyl you need from the back. If you place an order you can have them hold it for pickup.

No you can actually walk in. It is a warehouse, but has a front end too. Also you can check out the gear they sell. Seth the owner has been a sponsor on AK and Agon for years. They are good people to deal with.

My wife is from Lemoyne, a suburb of Harrisburg, and was just there all of last week. I thought she was going to go over to Soundstage this trip, but she didn't make it. Also Oldies.com is right there in the Philly area also.

Jack, Dave, thanks for the info. Sounds like a trip is in order.

Hey Steve, wanna take a trip with me one day?. We can stop by PrEx as well.:P
