Thinking back…

I’v had lots of speakers come and go but the most memorable are my Ohm F’s. Super listenable, super flawed, still have a Millersound refurbished pair at our lake home.

OK, here they are. Pretty much a poor man's systems, but some pretty good:
  • Dynaco A25
  • AR 7
  • AR 5
  • Braun L710
  • Ohm F -- sorry I sold them
  • B&W DM7 -- sorry I bought them
  • Magnaplanar MMG
  • Magnaplanar MG 1.6QR
  • Zaph Audio ZRT -- great DIY speakers comparable to 2-3X commercial

I had the 1.6qrs. I enjoyed them.

I had a pair of Naim SBL that I initially ran passively, then “upgraded” my then Naim/Linn system to run them active. The SBL were interesting design/engineering, could sound thrilling when set up in right room, and utterly crappy if not. No in between. Eventually I got tired of all the boxes and cabling, tweaking to get things just right. Naim is fun, but I wanted to spread my wings a bit.

There are a few other speakers that I had a lot of fun with, will save that for another time.
