I just purchased a virtually mint condition Luxman M4000 amplifier from the early 70's. This is a superb amplifier, designed by Tim De Paravicini, and considered a classic, and Luxman's best solid state amp, by experts. It is in working condition, but, given it's age, I would like to have it recapped and refurbished, as needed. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for quality Luxman repair services or technicians in the United States. Thanks.

JC - If you want the service performed to factory specs I'd suggest contacting Luxman America for their nearest recommended service center.

Thanks Bill. I did do that, however, they only recommend service centers for the current, or at least reasonably current product line, going back ten or so years at most. They were kind enough to give me one name of someone they were aware of that serviced older gear, but his phone number is disconnected.

Contact Paul at Manymoonsaudio.

He might be able to assist, but I know he has a backlog of items generally.

I have used vintageaudiorepair.ca 5 times to rebuild my Luxman pieces, 5M20, 5M21, 5C50, CX1 and 5F70. I also sent a friend of mine and he rebuilt his M2000 and CX1. All the work is totally professional. The amps look great inside & out and they sound excellent too. The work only took 3 to 4 weeks. You have to be willing to ship to Canada.

I have also used Matt's Vintage Audio Repair. You can find him on Facebook. Matt is in Cincinnati and is also a great tech. I have never used him for a total recap work but Matt’s super skilled. I have him working on a Luxman 5C50 now. I just wanted a quick tuneup on this piece. My other 5C50 is much nice looking so I had it totally refurbished by my Canada tech because I totally trust him with anything Luxman. If you use any of these techs tell them the Drumhead Guy sent you.
