Happy holidays!

I am rather new to separates, but have experience with integrateds. To those more informed than me, what would be the difference between the two systems? I know the 611s have more power, and the C12000 has solid state/tube versatility. Do you benefit from a better preamp in the chain (C12000) vs. a lesser one (C2700)? I know in our endless pursuit; sometimes we chase "diminishing returns." What is your insight on how they would perform? I'm trying to get a listen, but many dealers do not have both systems in their entirety. I believe MSRP is close, also. Any insight would be appreciated!!

My experience is with similar equipment several generations back. Specifically the preamps. I replaced a C 2300 with the C 1100 and the C 1100 was far superior to the C 2300. Now we have the C 2700 which owners say is better than the C 2300, and the C 12000, which is now McIntosh’s flagship preamplifier.

The MC 611 and MC 462 are from the current generation of McIntosh SS amplifiers and their internal circuitry is very similar.

That would lead me to believe the better preamp with the stereo amp would be a good choice. That is assuming your speakers don’t need the extra power the MC 611 provides.
