The FACT 3 is a wonderful speaker. We've had it in our listening rooms, primarily in the smaller room. I can't comment on clarity etc because it's been too long since we've had it, but the bass is definitely nowhere near as effortless as the Ref 1. In Canada, the Fact 3 costs more than the Ref 1. Again, I can't comment on the rest of the sonic range. Cosmetically, the Ref 1 is definitely better, TO ME! I am a fan of both manufacturers, and they both offer great products. PMC has an amazing story with their success in tier 1 studios.

AL...I agree; the FACTs are a-maze-zing...but definitely bass light. At first, I wasn't sure I could live with the trade-off; but they resolve like NO other speaker, I've EVER had. :yahoo1:

Sometimes...that kind of resolution and detail, comes at a price; in the way of fatigue. Not with the FACTs...at least not to these ears. I'm hearing stuff, in a way I've never heard before...but it's never harsh, shrill, bright, et al; and I find myself sitting, listening, and losing track of time :audiophile:

Well said. I concur. I purchased fact 8s about the same time CD got his fact 3s. The clarity and realism of these speakers sets a new bar. These are the gold standard in that department from my experience. I've heard other speakers with uber detail and resolution, but they didn't sound natural and real. Yes, those speakers let you hear deep into a recording but to combine massive resolution with realism is a very rare trick indeed.

Im a big KEF fan and love the looks of the new ref line, and I will definately get my ears on a pair ASAP, but I doubt they supplant my fact 8s. These facts are special.
