Interesting video on grey market audio goods....

That was interesting, especially when I learned the speaker was from, DeVore.

This reminded me of a recent article I read how the new owner of Parasound restructured how they do business with dealers to try to eliminate gray market. A couple points, the dealer has to fill out the warranty card in order for the customer to receive full warranty. He really clamped down on "open box". Even dropped Crutchfield as a dealer who I'd assume made a good amount of sales.

I agree - I would think Crutchfield would have been a higher volume dealer for them.
 
Could not do it. I could not waste 18 minutes of my life listening to whomever it was drone on without getting important points made concisely. He needed to "spit it out" and move on.

This event seems to have happened a few years ago. Why did Devore feel

I did not know that. I listened to the first 9 minutes then bailed.

It was not really necessary to mention white and black markets. There definitely was no need to belabor white and black markets. One or two sentences each, if that. 40 seconds and move on.

Most posters on YouTube spend too much time passing gas instead of making salient points. Make the point and move on.

He's a home based audio dealer (Mike Powell) who also manufactures Verastarr brand cables and has a youtube channel called "OCD Hi-Fi Guy". He's the Mike referred to in the video as making the accommodation purchase from John DeVore.
 
If OCD operates like in the example I bet he does sell out of his home. Someone with no overhead or vestment to swoop in and make a sale at a under cut. I'm sure dealers love him.

I personally liked the entire video finding the examples of Rolex and the Porsche interesting but I wasn't in any hurry.

Hey Folks...

There's a good thread about this on What's Best Forum, where I respond to DeVores regurgitation of a 6 year old matter dead and closed. Something has caused this poor sod to try and slander me 6 years later. Hes been legally reprimanded for purporting actual lies and has edited the video since it was first aired. (just search "ocd Mikey" on Whats Best Forum)

His company must be sucking hind tit for him to do this 6 years later AFTER his Stereophile friend did an expose on this exact situation 6 years ago, naming me to help DeVore get retribution (cost the guy his job at Stereophile for using the mag to levy a personal grievance) and he thinks this will help ?? lol. In the end his rant helps us see how the audio media slants things the way they want to, using dishonesty and deception. It really makes him look bad. It also scratches the surface of a much deeper wound in the industry which I illustrate in the link above..

Keep an open mind that you may have just been fed lies in the JD video. I lay out all the facts...

I guess this is the thread? John DeVore on the Grey Market and OCD Mikey | What's Best Audio and Video Forum. The Best High End Audio Forum on the planet! I didn't read as it really isn't of interest to me. I think the video done as posted earlier in the thread should have (if it was me and I felt that way I would have not named anyone but it wasn't me) been kept more general. It could have made the point he was trying to convey and could have left that out. I've had separates for about 45 years (since I was 8 years old of course:) ) and I've had good and bad experiences with dealers (living in multiple places), individuals and companies. I never kiss and tell all. I've warned people in private messages who have posted things even though I feel the same way. It just doesn't pay. It's a very small world and not worth it even if it bothers someone. Just move on and let it rest.
