Not long after I graduated high school, I became smitten by the idea of owning a set of Infinity Kappa 600's. Maybe it was their sleek European styling that drew me in. Or maybe it was the no-BS approach to their design. All I know is that I couldn't afford em' when they first hit market, and when I finally managed to scrounge up enough cashola to bring home a set - they were no longer being sold in the US.

Ho hum

Then, just a few days ago, a local deal popped up. Long story short: I just hauled in my Kappp 600's! I know this isn't the kind of high end that gets you boys goin', but I nonetheless wanted to share my excitement with the group!

Joe,

As of this exact moment, I have them set up exactly as you see in the picture. No bueno. I need to spike em', then I need to take some speakers outta the room to find their "sweet spot". However, what I CAN give you are some first impressions! Getting right to it:

In short, they sound like high-end Infinity loudspeakers. The midrange and treble is super clean and articulate sounding. Their off-axis performance is fantastic. The bass is a lot tighter than I expected, even though I'm still not big on side-firing woofers.

On the flip side, their voicing certainly veers toward the forward side of neutral - with a noticeable bump in the lower treble. It's not bright on my gear, but I could imagine the bump being too much of a good thing on thinner / more transistory sounding components.

Overall though, I'm pretty content with the purchase so far. I mean, I only have $500 in them, so it'll be hard for me to feel disappointed. hehe Anyway, I look forward to spending more time with the Kappa 600's and giving them the proper treatment they deserve.

Thanks for the update. It's really great when you can fulfill a dream from your past. Enjoy the journey getting to know them and tweaking them.

Joe - Agreed. Have you ever revisited a Hi-Fi component from your past?

CPP - Thanks. :D
