After listening to a bunch of bookshelf speakers in my price range, I've come to the conclusion that my two front runners are the Dynaudio excite X18's and the KEF R300's. I'll be pairing them to a Peachtree Audio Nova300 integrated amplifier. If anyone has any experience with either of these speakers your input would be greatly appreciated.

Tough call. Did you notice the difference in the Tweeters? The Dyns are never Fatigueing due to the soft tweeter. They will open up nicely with the power you have. What did you hear them with at the dealer?

I personally would continue to lean towards Dynaudio having a couple pairs and being a long time fan.

The dealer was actually able to audition both with a Peachtree Nova150 and the same speaker cable I use as well so it was a similar sound to what I would have. I too am leaning toward the dyn's

I don't think you will second guess that decision for more than a few seconds after setting them up at home. I am amazed at what my Audience 42s can do in my main setup. I think the 18s are closer to the 52s but a tiny bit smaller overall and easier to drive.

In that price range if you haven't you might want to try and listen to the Nola Boxer. Closer in sound to the Dyn than KEF.

I've heard/use both, either brand is good. KEF will be slightly better on clarity, imaging and detail, dynaudio will have better dynamics, more natural instrument timbre and avoid any tendency towards brightness. If bulk of listening is rock and pop vocal music, KEF might be preferred, if bulk is jazz and classical then maybe the dyna.

have heard some lovely kefs but having had 2 pairs of dyns 72se and 52se , they are one of my favourites . agree with holler on presentation. lovely timbre and natural sound
