Does a Hi-Fi mafia exert influence over audiophile discussions?

Pearson was the Original Audio Mafia , the industry today is far less controlled than during the Absolute Sound early days ..

Hirsch was never the leading mag and audio back then had both subjective and objective responses to reviews, with Audio with Bascom King as well as others , being the leading mag of the era ..

Stereophile has kept this religion going , albeit a bit compromised with careful application of measurements to protect the innocent ..

The only downside to measurements is the killing of the BS blah blah know nothing reviewer of the month looking free product , credible blah blah reviewers not withstanding..

measurements by those reviewing is a must to ensure integrity in advertising at the very least ..

I often think it would be beneficial for subjective reviewers to have their hearing professionally checked on a regular basis, with the results shared periodically. Given that they rely on their hearing as a primary tool for evaluation, it would provide valuable context for their assessments and add an extra layer of transparency to their reviews.

anyone buying based on a review needs there ears checked, never made sense why people take reviewers opinions seriously, pretty absurd

What speaker measurements tell me is if a company is legit. B&W gets heat from the science crowd, but their products are consistent. If you buy a pair they will measure and sound alike. Another big name BIG dollar brand released a pair to stereophile for review and while the subjective review was gushing JA showed there were fq's the speakers varied by 6db from each other! I can't even guess if I'm going to like them if no 2 sound alike!

Case in point , Both Objective and subjective reviews are necessary to tell the tale.
