Complete agreement on the M3 - in order of memory and not necessarily quality:

1. Magico M3
2. Magico S5 mk2 (deff some bias here as I own it, but I own it because I think it's great - chicken and egg)
3. Dynaudio Confidence series - really amazing and huge value for the money
4. Zellaton - similar to confidence in that whichever model suits your room and is under 100k
5. Raidho D1.1 (the 2.1 and 3.1 - and let's be real on the street price of the 4.1 are all probably great too but I have only had the pleasure of hearing the 1.1 and the 5.1)

1. Avantgarde Mezzo XD
2. Tannoy Westminster GR
3. Dynaudio Temptation
4. ATC SCM150 Anniversary ( when drive them properly)
5. Magnapan 20.7

Paul,

I actually think I prefer the Magnepan 20.7 to the 30.7. They seemed to have a more balanced and cohesive sound. No tomatoes please from the peanut gallery!

TAD R1s, but I’m biased. I think they cost just more than $100k currently.

Like S5 mk2 pick. I suspect S5’s bass response wipes the floor with any Magico speakers not named S7 and under $100k of course.

Also, when you say Dynaudio Confidence series, do you mean the new ones coming out? Or the current lineup?

Can’t really say. Who has time to listen and judge multiple speakers, let alone at a $100K price.

Personally, I absolutely love my Magico S5 MK 2, and see/hear no real reason to upgrade.

Pnoe with full range AER driver, 120 db run with 1w amps

Yamamura though no longer available

Henk's apogee grands

If I had to pick a cone, Zellaton stage based on what I heard in the Zellaton statement. Though I never heard the stage myself.

Horns universum or trios depending on music and source

I've heard a lot of the speakers posted in this thread.
I could live with most of them.

I'll add the Vivid Audio G1 Spirit (85K here).

Good question - I haven't heard the updated series so my comments were with respect to the original. However, one would imagine and hope that the new series is an improvement over the current series and, so long as the price point is mostly unchanged, it should still be massive value for money. My only criticism of the dyn confidence series is that it's a bit too relaxed and once you listen to be tweeters the silk dome just doesn't have that bite. It's a bit polite.

The dyns are what i reccomend for every friend getting into the hobby because they don't offend and the smaller monitors play really big. They scale well with new equipment but if the sound is not your cup of tea they also offer a helpful benchmark: "i like the tone, but want something a bit faster" etc

My top five:

- Avantgarde Duo XD/Mezo
- MBL 101s
- Zellaton Stage
- Wilson Alexia S2
- Vandersteen Seven

Honorable mentions:

- Revel Salon 2
- Harbeth 40.2
- Quad 2912
- Magico family S5 MK2, M3 and potential M2
- Magnepan 20.7
