Thanks to Mike, who sent me a link to a pair for sale, I have a beautiful pair of WE 300b tubes in my Lampizator Big 7. They are amazing. So sweet, smooth and quiet. They are magical.

The holy grail of tubes. Congratulations Bruce. I'm so happy for you.
 
The holy trinity! WE300b's with WE422a! (yes, I know the WE274b is probably a little better...but in the Lampi, I haven't heard much difference between the WE274b and my WE422a. I may even prefer the 422a!)

P.S. Bruce - if you love them in a Lampi, you should hear them in a sweet little 300b SET amp!

So now the million dollar question, why can't we get WE 300b produced today, new that sound like the old?
 
Heard the Elrog's 300B's in Coincident Frankenstein amps last night and I must say they are quite impressive.
My friend recently received these to replace a failed pair. The Mfg believes that the reliability issues have been addressed. Time will tell. but well worth auditioning.

For me and my ear, there is no better sounding dac than the Lampizator. I though I could live without it, but I was wrong. My Lumin S1 is awesome but for the ultimate in sound quality, the Lampi is it. Others may disagree, but I know better :blush:

Any thoughts/experiences on the Balanced v SE GG ? Thanks in advance for the feedback .
 
The balanced version is a little bit quieter. I think the Big7 is the sweet spot. I am not sure if you can get a single ended GG, but that is where I may end up. Two matched output tubes vs a quad and the same magic in the unit.

Joe gets to hear my Lampizator on a regular basis. It is a constant reminder of how great it is. No escaping it. Sorry Joe.

If I did not have my system, I'd have Bruce's. Our taste in gear is similar and I can only imagine how sweet the Lampi is with the WE 300B tubes.
