Had some approval from the spousal unit to get a "good" piece for my system. Might have involved an automobile accident...

I have been investigating/researching a DAC upgrade for my system. I acted quickly to prevent a retraction of permission.

As usual, dealing with Mike, and Mike Malley was easy, and went well. I ordered an MSB Premier DAC, with Renderer v2 for Roon.
At present, the Premier comes standard with the upgraded clock module, and the Premier Power base.

Supreme results. This DAC is smooth, yet very clear. Soundstage is very expansive. My wife remarked quickly that my system had improved greatly. (harsh critic there)

I know I need to do something to separate the PSU from the DAC, but we have a move next year, with downsizing, further, likely. I will be waiting till the new listening room is identified, and then plan for a different rack, or an additional one to house the different PSU boxes. The room size will also determine if I keep the vinyl rig/vinyl albums/record cleaning machine.

Additionally, if you run Sonos in your house (my wife can only speak Sonus, and she listens to music a lot) the Wyred4Sound modded Port module really is good.

Thanks again Mike and Mike!

By FAR the best dealer in the US. Glad you're enjoying your new gear!

No. My current power delivery

1) “hospital grade” outlets in 4 outlets that I use for audio. (all outlets on that room “loop” circuit)
2) I did have a dedicated 20 amp circuit run to that wall plate, with the electrician putting a double box in the wall next to that speaker. The monoblock amps are plugged into the 20 amp outlet. Everything else in that rack + TV are plugged into the regular wall plug behind the rack.

I had that circuit run when I was using DIY Class A amps. I have come to understand that that circuit has a separate ground rod, and that probable added some of the hum I was fighting last year.

If I were to be staying in this house, I would remodel my room. I would flip the speaker end to the other end of the room, and install an additional outlet, on the 20 amp circuit so that the source, pre, and amps are on the same circuit. My video system involves cable box, AppleTV, and Oppo Via HDMI to the TV, with TosLink from TV to the DAC, so no grounding issues, using the regular room outlets.
