Are any of you guys streaming Tidal through HQPlayer in DSD to your Lampizator? I gather that it is possible so. But not being a geek, I can't begin to think how it would be done.

Should be easily possible with a PC music server that has Roon and HQP. Maybe even Roon by itself can upsample now and ROON is Tidal ready.

Elberoth and AL Rainbow should know..

Three possible ways to upsample Tidal to DSD:

1. Roon (PC) -> DAC
2. Roon + HQPlayer (i7 PC) -> DAC
3. Lumin U1 -> DAC

I stream Tidal through a Mac mini to DSD128 using HQ Player and Roon, works well and sounds great in my A+

my mini is a 2009 version and is quite underpowered, at a point in the near future I'll upgrade the mini to a higher spec later model

So I take it that Roon using a Mac alone (no HQPlayer) cannot upsample Tidal to DSD?

I don't have Roon. You need a powerful chip for DSD512, so most Macs would be out, but DSD128 is easily possible witrh Mac JRiver. I thought latest Roon also upsamples????

Edit:FINALLY !!! After years of birthpains and developments, Good news: Audirvana on MAC in it's new revision 3 has album artwork, cool new GUI, and upsampling to DSD that works like a charm !!! Perfect. Easy. Cheap. even MP3 sounds like master tape on DSD.

Thanks, Wisnon.
I installed Audirvana 3 and had no problem configuring for DSD128 output from Tidal (which is integrated). Good news is that it sounds better. Bad news is I have an Aurender that I like to use. So much speed of development and disruption in digital today. It is impossible to keep up. But the A+ sound is a breakthrough for me in PCM or DSD. It is just so involving.

I just upgraded to Audirvana 3 as well...but not yet checked out its features.

Hard to imagine that the GA is better than the A+....but the Leichtenstein crew assures me of that. Its not just the bling case....

Was it you who posted all the "extras" that the GA has?

- Furutech Rhodium RCA output sockets
- Furutech RCA digital S/PDIF input
- Mundorf M-Lytic HV electrolytes in second stage of PSU
- Mundorf Foil MKP capacitors in final stage of power supply just before the tube anode.
- Jupiter-Copper 1uF Output capacitors bypassed by Mundorf Silver Oil Supreme
- Mundorf Silver Oil Supreme Digital input SPDIF capacitor
- WBT rear sockets
- Muntorf Mlytic power supply caps
- Silver WBT solder used throughout
- All wiring is 26 GA stranded silver in teflon
- ATOM Vishay first capacitor after the tube
- Mundorf Foil MKP capacitors in third, final stage of power supply just before the tube anode.
- Metal-Film laser cut resistor MLT in Anode Load
- CMC Teflon sockets with gold pin contacts for all 5 tubes
- Mundorf Silver Oil Supreme Digital input SPDIF capacitor
- Copper and powder clear-coated chassis/box

No. Not at all.

However, despite what may or may not be inside, they guys who demoed the 2 extensively very very definitive in their opinion.

Looks that way. LoL

I thought you meant on this forum.
I have seen others post that copy/paste here.
