Static, how do you get rid of it?

Had an electrical storm last night & did some record cleaning leading up to it. Put some vinyl on & couldn't believe the amount of dirt/fluff/crap on the stylus after just one side of an LP. It got so bad that I got the torch & turned the light off, you could see the debris floating through the air to the vinyl up to a metre away easily. The storm was a pearler.
What is the best thing to de-static an LP? Has anyone had any experience with the Furutech Dstat? Is the antistatic gun the best for now?

What do you use?

When you put your vinyls on the shelf - place some bounce dryer sheets between every few albums - After some time - the static will go away. I have never needed a Zero Stat gun. Worth a try anyway and cheap.

Is your table and/or platter made of some plastic like metacrylate? If so, you might spray some static guard on the table. Even without an overt issue, one often finds a reductions in background grunge on any plastic polymer based table.

I had a big static problem with my VPI TNT that I never had with my HW-19. I solved the issue by running a thin copper wire between the bearing housing and the motor. Solved every bit of the static issue forever. Of course, it doesn't fix the dust in the air problem.
