I just ordered the Soulution 760 DAC and Soulution 711 amplifier.

My music server is Roon Rock installed on a dedicated NUC based server.

That server is located somewhere in my network away from the HiFi.

I'm looking for a Roon End Point (transport only) to connect to the 760, whether USB or AES.

Most of the offerings are servers, which I don't need.

There aren't many transports-only available.

The options could be :

  • Sonore Signature Rendu Optical SE
  • Lumin U1

Is there anything else available?

The other option would be to stick with the LAN adapter included in the Soulution 760 and use rooUPnP as a RAAT to UPnP converter.

Is something else available ?
What are you views?

Thank you for your help,

Tom

Another well reviewed solution despite its low price is the Allo USBridge Signature. You have to install Ropieee on it but that's easy. I've used an Allo USBridge with my UnitiQute2 and found it perfectly fine in that use.

Tom that Esoteric looks deserving of a high-end system. Looks like you could use your new dac's network connection, or usb.

Just my opinion now... Get rid of roon with a system that good, it has it's place, yours' in my opinion would probably not.

I would suggest an aurender feeding your 760 for best sound.

And you're most certainly right, unfortunately.

I mostly listen to classical music. For that particular genre, Roon is by far the best music organizer. Its ability to automatically tag the music and automatically link interpretations of the same composition throughout the library is outstanding.

I love Roon.

What I'd like to find is a top-notch Roon endpoint and have my Roon Core well away from the DAC.

Then the Taiko Extreme might be your best option.

I agree with Mike on this one. The SGM Extreme seems like quite the machine and it is well equipped to run Roon and HQ Player to get the best you can from your digital music.

Apparently, using Roon Core on the Taiko doesn't result being a good idea in terms of sound quality.

Which is no surprise.

Running Roon, which is really a computing hungry beast, in a server connected directly to the DAC is a mistake.

Roon Labs advises against it to anyone concerned with sound quality.

Roon architecture is as follows, and should be used that way :

Roon Core ----(LAN)---- Roon EndPoint ----(USB, AES, etc)---DAC

I believe there isn't yet, on the market, a satisfying solution.

There is a potential market there

How can you fix noisy P2P software with hardware? Hardware which is so CPU intensive, it adds yet more noise?
