Darrin...I agree. Build quality is certainly off the charts and if Doug Schneider is to be believed, it's sound is pretty special too.
 
This amp looks beautifully built. It kind of reminds me of Boulder. I think I prefer Accuphase, but there is no denying that the Lux amps offer (relatively) great bang for the buck. Nice!
 
And it is a brand so coveted and well built, in 30 years this amp will command a high price. For me luxman and accuphase and air tight are brands that almost feel like smart financial investments. That's a stretch but I can rationalize with the best of them.
 
I wish Doug would have compared it to his reference Ayre. He wussed out.

My Luxman amp ran hotter than a tube amp fyi- all of those SS advantages and all :)

Keith...which Luxman amp did you have? If it ran hotter than a tube amp, it must have been one of their Class A amps. The M-900u above is Class AB and seems like it did not run hot at all from his comments.

Yes, I had the Class A,30W 590ax integrated for an extended, in-home demo. I have not heard the 900 although most say the Class A gear sounds better than the A/B gear...I have friends who have owned the 800 and were very impressed. Luxman gear rocks, although US prices are silly high considering the Yen has been obliterated...

It's a good business model though. You buy low and sell high.
