Pilium

I enjoyed K’s visit a couple months back while he made a USA road trip. Very cool and humble guy and like many mfg’s in this hobby truly passionate about making great sound. I’ve been thrilled having Pilium in-house. A level above my previous (much loved) ARC kit.

This is an extremely intriguing brand to me. Amps run cool. Reputedly extremely reliable offerings. Seemingly universally praised. Used to promote some of the world's best speakers. However, the sheer mass of Pilium amps pretty much rules them out for me.

The mass is a direct consequence of the design where the packed internals, large heatsinks and thick panels all adds up.

This might only be a challenge during the installation though, where two men can quite easily handle the amplifiers. The fact that they run so cool also makes them very easy to place on a dedicated rack or within a sideboard etc. as long as it can handle the weight. The minimalistic design also helps to make the amplifiers more discrete in terms of appearance.
