New Center Speaker

I've recently had some buzzing from my plasma tv. I had the company come out and replace an SS board and it has not helped it. The buzzing only happens during bright scenes in tv. It's not horrible or extremely loud but it bugs me. My warranty had expired and I do not want to buy a new tv. I currently have Klipsch Quintet speakers with an Energy sub. I was wondering if I buy a better center speaker will the buzzing sound be minimized? If so, what recommendations do you have? My budget is $200-300.

Thank you,
Clayton

I cannot quite make what you're saying Clayton.

Where's the buzzing coming from exactly; top rear of your Panasonic (or Samsung) plasma, or near the bottom where the speakers are?
...And in relation with brighter scenes only? ...Does the fan inside your plasma contributing to this?

And why a center channel speaker would be able to resolve this issue?

* My best guess is that you're saying that when watching TV (from your cable or satellite box), and listening through your TV speakers, and only during bright scenes there is buzzing coming from the small internal TV speakers?
If yes, then it might have to do with the cable box and adding an external center channel speaker (from your SSP or receiver doing the sound), I don't see why it can resolve the issue if indeed ... but! ...Do you have this issue also when using your Klipsch quintet speakers, and is the volume level turned up loud?

I'm not following 100% here, so please help. :)

Clayton, my plasma buzzes too. It also is affected by the color/brightness of scenes. But on mine, and perhaps your set as well, the buzzing is separate from the speakers so using an HT set up instead of the built-in speakers won't help the situation.

Ha! :)

- I believe that I read somewhere that you can get rid of (or diminishing substantially) that buzzing by sound-proofing (foam insulation) the area from where the buzzing is coming from.
But I cannot remember how you open up the rear panel, and if it is around the fan's area, or the fan itself.
Does it make sense?

* Doug, your plasma; a Panny or a Sammy?

I think Clay is thinking about upgrading the center to help minimize the hearing of the buzzing from the viewing position. Obviously, with buzzing being a symptom of many plasmas, it likely won't be possible to eliminate it completely, but hopefully a larger and improved center will provide a better listening/viewing experience.

Bob, mine's a Pioneer.

They used to be the very best.

I see, a better and bigger center channel speaker to camouflage the plasma's buzzing.
Yeah, that would work.

- BTW, mine is a Sammy plasma, and I hear no buzzing at all. ...2011 model.
But! I do have a very annoying (green) pixel flashing and on its way to permanent death! ...Duck* tape should do it. :D

* Duck or duct? ...Doc? ;)
