Mike, these come to you as a dealer demo allocation? Or customer order that you can demo on the store floor for a while until customer takes delivery?

These are mine. Demos. I have to buy them all.

Well yeah, I know dealers need to buy their demo stock. It seems you have just about one of everything, which is not something found very often. Certainly in my market.

I work hard to bring in the best. My customers deserve the best.

Boy has his DAC improved in the past 5 days. It’s been running 24/7. I recycled the power this morning and sat down for a listen.

It has the same great analog sounds of all current MSB’s. The Premier has greater soundstage and bass weight. But this is a bare bones Discrete and it sounds superb.

The better clock in the Premier really provides another level of smoothness and the PowerBase provides the Bass weight and midbass meatiness like analog.

Thanks for the comments, Mike.

I almost wonder if one can't scale up to the crazy analog-good Reference/Select level, if just getting a Discrete with dual PSs is the value play.

I really don’t think so. The S2 and REF are just extraordinary.

I know it is hard to put a % figure on it, but what is your best guess as to the % improvement from Discrete —> Premier —> Reference —> Select. For example, is it 20% per level (assuming base package)?

Select II - 100%
Ref - 80%
Premier - 60%
Discrete - 40%

Again, VERY hard to quantify.

Much appreciated. And makes sense - Jonathan & Co have really nailed this new line. Seems to me that the Reference is the sweet spot. Love that MSB do FULL trade in value when upgrading.

So... for me, a speaker upgrade first or a MSB upgrade first... Jumping the gun somewhat as my MSB renderer doesn’t work, but thinking ahead.
