I am currently using Nordost TYR2 speaker cables on my Dartzeel amp and realize it's not a good match. I need a fuller sounding cable with a smoother treble. How does MIT compare?

Joe, you might try Cardas Golden Reference.

Or, you could live dangerously and use what I use...Zu Mission. Inexpensive, and very, very nice.

I have a 1 meter pair of Cardas GR interconnect. I need to try between amp and pre. First I need to move some gear around. That should be interesting.

Joe...a friend of mine who has Dartzeel, Playback Designs, HRS, Evolution Acoustics uses the top MIT's with David Elrod power cords.

Thank you Dave for the recommendation and thank you for being here.

VERY pretty lady in your avatar. :)

I had Cardas G.R at one point. I felt they were a bit "dark". I'm currently using MIT Oracle Matrix 90 rev 1's and like them very much. Then again, I have no choice with the Spectral gear.

Joe, I Have had great success with Crystal Cables. Most of them are gone, but I've held on to a couple of pairs of Micro. Their phono cable was the best I ever heard. Loved it. The Micos are not in the stratosphere price wise and I think they do everything very well. They are detailed, smooth and shielded. I have a fifteen ft pair of Cardas Neutral Reference speaker cables that I keep around to compare. Sometimes they stay in the system, when I need what they have to offer.

Purist Audio Design? Silky smooth

Hi BlueMcIntosh, my friend Elrocco as tried - Nirvana - Siltech - Stealth - and finaly settled on Purist Audio Design and says he will never change again, like my wife would say ( heard that one before ) his system consist of Lamm mono blocks & preamp CEC TL-0X transport Jadis JS-1 MK3 Magnum MD-108 and Eaglestonworks Andra3 speakers, very fine system.

+1 on Cardas. If I can find my pair lying around I could let you try them, Joe.

Oops, sorry, not Golden Cross (Hexlink Golden 5C) and not speaker cables, LOL!:weird: Should have read the title of the thread first!

But I just did replace the WW Electra ICs (XLRs) with the Cardas - I prefer the Cardas. A tad warmer sound which really helped on vocals, a more relaxed sound, albeit at the expense of foreshortening of soundstage depth. I'll leave it in my system and see if it settles after a while.

Let me know if you want to try these. Again, apologies for the false advertisement!

Joe, I haven't auditioned MIT since the early 90s, back then a rolled/soft treble and diminished dynamics were their signature which helped most SS gear of that era. My recommendation is the MG Audio Design cables from Colorado, one of the few times where changing equipment or cables resulted in both increases in transparency/detail retrieval, and a more coherent/organic/musical/relaxing experience! They offer a trial period, and top of the heap performance for reasonable scratch. See Stereomojo for some feedback, reviewers selling off high dollar cables for MG kit, and they've improved both speaker cables and ICs since most reviews. I replaced Signal Cable silver reference with MG and was astonished at the improvement on my Legacy Focus speakers. You will find the CU ICs perhaps a better match for the Dart up top, but the silvers are magic if they are a system match.

Another friend recommended MG cables to me as well as a few other brands. I've gone back to my Transparent Audio Super cables temporarily until I can figure out what to do.

Have you tried Kubala Sosna Elation Joe? Slight roll off on treble compared to TYR and nice weight in the mids, worth an audition.

Never tried but always read great things about Kubala Sosna. I think they might be worth trying.
