A new Showtime documentary on the band Lynyrd Skynyrd and probably the best documentary of a rock band I’ve seen. Tremendous interviews and narration by the living members and great historical footage and photos of Ronnie Van Zant and the other members who are no longer with us. The documentary provided wonderful insight into the each band member and their rise to fame. Hard not to get choked up with the tragic ending. A must watch.

Here’s a link to one of their final concerts with the original band members before the plane crash:

Thanks Ken. Where can we find it to watch?

It’s on Showtime. You can watch it for free On Demand by selecting “Showtime Documentaries”, provided you subscribe to Showtime. I think it deserves an Emmy nomination for best documentary and for Gary Rossington’s narration. Just outstanding.

I loved the original band, but lost interest in them after the plane crash. The music was never the same after that.

I saw the Outlaws open for The Rolling Stones. The Outlaws were awesome. The Stones were too high and played like crap.

For the show I saw, the Outlaws blew LS off the stage during their opening act and then again for the encore where they all played together. LS is a good band, but Outlaws were way more talented. I love them both.

The Outlaws blew the Stones off the stage too. The Outlaws were a super tight band and the Stones played like crap the night I saw them.
