Lyngdorf ?

Seems to have a lot of users on AudioCircle and CA. This looks like a promising piece. I wonder whose amp modules they are using?

Yes, and those users swear by the product........would be interesting to subtitute it in a high end system and see how it holds up........ a 1 box solution.

Not certain it uses OEM modules, here's their description which appears as if they may be using an in-house design:

The impressive speaker output section is based on our heritage Equibit™ technology designed with extremely fast switching low-Rds MOSFETs for the highest possible efficiency. It combines full dynamic performance at low levels with an extreme maximum current output of 40A.

At just under $7k maybe somebody will be the first to try it. Seems like a very interesting company and part of the Steinway & Sons family of brands. Maybe Mike will look into them. Seems like they do their own distribution.

Have you ever heard one of their products. They have a dealer in Chicago, Kyomiaudio, that also sells Gryphon. According to a review I read of the earlier 2170 the Equibit is a Texas Instrument chipset. It seems this technology goes back to the days of the Panasonic digital amps and receivers from the mid-2000's as well as the TacT products Lyngdorf used to produce from the same time period.

I remember a Lumin user using this brand of product. Based on the web description its differentiating feature is built-in room correction. It's a digital amplifier (same as the amplification technology used in Lumin M1, which is based on Texas Instrument chipset). These imply analog sources will be digitized. So to use this solution it's best to feed it a digital signal instead of the analog output from another DAC.

By the way, it's also possible to do room correction via Roon software (together with REW, mic, and some reading and work required, etc.)

Lyngdorf is an established player in the room correction market. I like the design of the new product.

Based on tests also the Trinnov devices are very good. The come as a pure room correction unit or a pre with room correction capability.

These units appear to go beyond physical room treatments whether you have them or not.
i bet it would provide a lot of tweaking fun to tailor for specific music genres. I enjoyed my Sansui surround sound processor back in the 70’s..

Jack - No I haven't ever heard any Lyngdorf gear and don't really have any interest in doing so, mostly due to my admitted bias against Class D amplification. I've heard numerous implementations of Class D over the years and they're just not to my taste, but to each their own!

Since your Lumin U1 is Roon Ready, you can have that tweaking fun with minimal cost (for a mic) via a Roon trial, without making a relatively major hardware purchase:

This is not a Class D amp, direct digital, no D/A conversion either, PWM modulation to output devices, no D leanness, worth an audition.

I have the Lyngdorf CD1 and the power SDA in my system and i´m very happy with them. I only have changed the fuses. It is absolutely necessary to correct the original tone. Like i said in another post i will be the first client if the brand decide to make power mono blocks. Yes, i only change my SDA for two ! :D

You can get an idea of their sound here

Then I stand corrected, thanks for the clarification. Still have not heard any 'direct digital' amps which I'd choose to own since my system includes a significant investment in an analog source which I prefer to reproduce without such modulation schemes.

Keeping an eye out for more reviews, although since the previous model got a lot of raves, I don't expect less from this beefed-up model.

Am seriously tempted to give it a try and simplify my system. The room correction is the most intriguing bit for me... have been wanting to explore that.

heard this brand years ago with this room correction brand , then their cd player was all the rage and its all quitened down in recent years . didn`t know they were still functioning

Well, I've got one on order.

Wasn't planning on doing a change of this magnitude to my system... was originally just looking into preamps when I stumbled across articles and forum posts about Lyngdorf. As much as I like the Ayre KX-5 Twenty, the volume control always bothered me a little. Most of my listening is to my entire library, on shuffle, and so I have to adjust the volume between nearly every song. The mechanical sound of the KX-5's resisters switching in and out was too audible for my taste. I tried to get used to it; I know some Ayre owners prefer it.

Looking forward to the 3400 and trying Room Perfect. And nervously hoping that I'm making a sound choice!

I replaced a Mark Levinson 326s/532H and PS Audio Directstream DAC with Lyngdorf 3400. I’m very happy. I use a Bryston BDP-2 and Roon. Speakers are PSB Imagine T3.
