Paul,

Very nice. If I remember correctly that was Howie's setup several years ago. Look at those lovely Strads!

Of course I noticed the soulful Strads, but did you notice in the Audio Note video how they described the amp? Words of passion. Words of emotion. Not technical rubbish. Beautiful.

Paul,

You made a wise choice. Enjoy the new gear that's coming. I think it will be fantastic.

Thanks Joe..... I guess I'm just going to stick with what I have.....sigh...

yea that is a cool integrated i heard bobs too but i first heard it where i bought my hovland. the guy had that and was selling all his other equip to keep it. is a phenomenal amp, but at that price im sure you can find something better or two. lol.

+1...that was Howie's set-up from a few years ago. The Strads were in the special order "Palladio" (I believe that's the right name) finish. Only 25 made I believe at the time. The Ongaku was a big hit there for a while for Howie.

Is this same guy who is interested in Tannoy Westminster now ???

I will have to email Howie. I've heard one of the Palladium versions and prefer the original Strads. The Palladium version was limited to 25, however, all 25 are different again and each one was shrowded in secrecy as to what exact changes were made. The 25 were limited because Franco wanted to try some different things in each one. But in the end, I'm not sure any single one was better than the final masterpiece. Sort of like when you get something perfect, think you can make it better and end up messing it up. That's what the Palladium sounds like to me. YMMV.

Hi Chaps,

Apologies for extended absence! Thank you for showing that video from a few years back. The Kondo Ongaku was a great piece which I traded in my Soulution for. In between those times the Onagku got traded for a pair of Goldmund 2500 which were fantastic and still my favourite SS amps. Then these went for a pair of Gryphon Colloseum mono blocks, very nice again. But the tube itch still brought me back and what better than to try the UK Audio Note Ongaku. It sounds similar to the Kondo one but is more warm and mellow but with a midrange to die for. I would love to A/B them in one room!

Oh and yes i still have the Marten Coltrane IIs. Its been three years and I was thinking of changing them but i honestly don't know what could match them. Ones I have considered at the Tannoy Westminster, JBL DD 67000 and YG Sonja III (may be too hard to drive). We shall see. In the meantime some recent photos of the UK Ongaku.
