Koetsu with Shindo... anyone heard this pairing?

I need to send my Lyra Delos off to be serviced. I was planning to upgrade my cart in a few months anyway and don't want to go without my vinyl for the 8 week service turnaround, so I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger on a new cart.

Seems like Koetsu's are described in a very similar fashion to how you see Shindo's described. Anyone hear any of these carts paired with Shindo?

I'm considering the Jade Platinum, but I also have a chance to get a good deal on a slightly used Blue Lace. The plus for the Blue Lace is that I'll get a 2 week trial period. No such luck on the Jade since it's brand new. Any specific feedback on these carts?

I used to have a Koetsu Rosewood that I used with my Masseto. It sounded nice, very syrupy and a bit soft as well. Not unpleasant but maybe a tad boring. YMMV though. Not heard the Jade, so I can't comment.

Thanks Neil. By the way, I have the A23 103 SUT. The Koetsu's output 0.3mV whereas my Delos outputs 0.5mV. Is my current SUT going to give me enough umph to sound fantastic?

My Koetsu is the opposite to boring
Just makes any music sound right
I would go for the lightly used Blue Lace
If you don't like send it back.Bet you will keep it

You'd probably be fine with regards to gain, but the impedance match may be a bit off, I think the internal impedance of the Koetsu is quite low. I tried my A23 with it and the internal suts in my pre amp seemed to be a better match, and they're designed for the very low impedance Shindo SPU.

The Koetsu sounded fine in other set ups, I just thought it was a bit boring in that particular set up. I like Koetsu carts!

Hmmm... Which of the A23's is a better match?

I REALLY don't want to have to buy another SUT. This one is not even a month old!

Maybe Matt will let me trade it in if he reads this. ;)

I was using a standard Rosewood into the 103SUT. I got far better results using an EMT TSD15 into the A23 sut without a doubt (bearing in mind my natural bias).

Koetsu can be picky about the tonearms too, especially in the stone bodies. Genereally they want to see a medium to high mass arm with great bearings. I am thinking of trying the Koetsu Urushi Wajima , but I am a little afraid it might be a little to warm for Shindo kit.
Please feel free to voice any observations.I am using the Hommage2 Stepup

Since you have the DL103 SUT I would suggest the EMT TSD15 as well. It is a good match and it a lot of fun to listen to and different enough from your Delos. In fact my guess would be you don't go back to the Delos after hearing the EMT.

What music do listen to?

I already pulled the trigger on a Koetsu Blue Lace. Got a killer deal on one that only had a few hours on it (verified by someone who knows carts).

I'm running a Brinkmann Oasis with a Graham Phantom Supreme.

When I get my Delis back from servicing, I may trade or sell it for the big boy Hommage SUT. We shall see.

Off the Koetsu subject, but I will be listening to a Bardo and Spyder soon. I have just been coordinating back and forth with the dealer. It would be great if you could share any thoughts on your Brinkman. I would use my EMT tsd-15/ Hommage T2 with the Brinkman. System is Monbrison > Dy'Quem's> 0/96's.

This is a difficult question to adequately answer. So I'll provide my observations. I have a shindo amp and pre. I have a top-tier turntable (non-shindo) and DeVore speakers. My SUT is the Auditorium T2. I have the Koetsu Urishi Vermillion (red) cart. I've had it about 4 years, and had a full rebuild on it. Before that I tried a Dyna Vector. I like the K's sound, and it is beautiful to my ears. Before adding the T2, I might have agreed with the lush references. The T2 was coupled with an upgraded table, which provided a nice counter-balance, adding some needed resolution and tightness (or edge). That said, I love the setup, and have had NO interest in changing anything for more than 2 years. Still, I would note that a friend has a Lyra with a shindo set-up, and it sounds sweet, too. So, there's no answer here....

What Turntable and Tonearem are you using with the Koetsu? I have a Linn LP12/NaimAro/Dynavector TKR/T2 but I am thinking of either the Koetsu Urshi or Dynavector XV-1S. I am a little worried about the Koetsu being a little warm especially through the Shindo Cortese....
