Howdy all. First post in this site. I'll be purchasing a pair of klipsch quartet speakers. I've read about putting 2.5 ounces of weight on the passive radiator. Anyone know how this is done? I recently posted this question on audiokarma and got a response of (glue). And today I was banned. So if this is a bad question let me know in advance to being banned.

Welcome to the forum.

I’ve never heard of putting a weight on the passive radiator.

I have never heard of putting weight on a passive radiator either. I cannot imagine asking that question being a ban able offense.

Welcome to the forum.

I’ve never heard of putting a weight on the passive radiator.

The reason for adding weight to the radiator is to add mass and slow down the responsiveness of the radiator to help control the low end bass waves. It's like adjusting the port tube on a bass reflex enclosure.

Makes sense, have you reached out on the Klipsch forum? Lots of helpful people there too.

I’m not sure how to best attach the weight.

Hi Joe, I looked for a klipsch forum and didn't see anything. I'm new to this site and haven't figured it out to well yet! I'll just have to wait till I get them and see what I can do. I may like their sound as is and have to do nothing! I hope that's the case. Thanks for the replies folks .

Hi Jack, thanks for the link! When I said I looked for a klipsch forum and didn't see one, I meant I didn't see one on audioshark. But thanks for taking the time to send the link.

I would think Klipsch would have optimized that design and placing a weight would be a bad idea. Seems speaker placement in the room or treatments would be a better avenue of experimentation.

My guess by slowing down the passive radiator it would cause phase issues. Who would want slower bass anyway?
