The Meta technology is just one of many upgrades made to these new versions of the Blades and Reference series speakers. They've also made numerous other design improvements in the latest 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array, crossover design, cabinet construction, etc. While I haven't seen any official announcement to confirm this KEF has a large exhibit room at AXPONA April 22-24 where I think they're likely to have some of these new speaker designs on demo.

Yea, the latest 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array has ben part of upgraded models lately. Obviously the Reference series and the Blades were due for an upgrade. Meta technology was the perfect opportunity for this.

I agree with many of the reviewers when they complimented KEF on not taking the typical approach of introducing new tech in top end expensive models, but instead in an improvement to one of their most popular high value models. Then trickle the tech up to their more expensive series!

I noticed that the sensitivity on the Blade went from 91db to 88db efficiency. The Uni-Q now has the Meta technology, and they say the crossover is upgraded. Am I crazy, or is 3db quite a bit? I would love to hear more about that.

As A current Blade owner i'll have to hear the meta's before deciding if the difference is worth the cost. If kef was offering full value trade in and I only had to spend $3000 that would be an easy sell, but losing half the money on a current pair, not so much.

I'm in a similar boat... just received my Blade 2's 2 months ago, they certainly didn't bother to mention the Meta's at that point. now I am considering the Meta's all the while I just bought a pair of 802D4's.

Yea, I can certainly understand the feeling of purchasing a piece only to have a new version released shortly afterwards.
