I recently purchased a new Motorola MB8600 cable modem and MR2600 router. As soon as I put them in my system I noticed that my digital system sounded unpleasantly harsher and brighter. I hoped that with break in the sound might improve but it didn’t.
I therefore purchased a Keces P3 linear power supply from Suncoast Audio that could supply the 2 channels of 12V DC with 3A per channel that I needed for the modem and router.
The P3 just arrived here today and I suspect it will continue to break in over the next few days. However, the brightness and harshness are already GONE. The background is also noticeably blacker. Even if it doesn’t continue to improve, and I suspect it will, I am a happy camper.
A fair bit has been written about the Keces P3 with other digital devices such as music servers and DACs, but less so about modems and routers. Just wanted to share my experience and confirm that the types of benefits observed with servers and DACs are also observed with modems and routers. I would also add that the improvement was immediately observable and not subtle. Definitely a worthwhile investment for me!
