recently, i have been listening to mid-50s to mid-60s recordings from jazz trios - sometimes quartets or quintets - but, the overall sound is rather sparse. mainly some mix of piano, drums, bass, guitar and saxophone. never thought i would be spending much time in this space but i am really liking it. i am also amazed at the recording quality back then - just phenomenal.

a few that have been seeing high play counts are below... what are others' favorites in this area? ...extra points for albums with a blues vibe :-D

midnight blue | kenny burrell

There are lots of great jazz albums from the 1950s and many of them are stunning in their recording quality. Sonny Rollins Way Out West is another great example.
