My Lumin is now one week old and very happy with SQ.
I have read the review about upgrading the PSU with the Sbooster, but I would like to hear opinions on this forum, of your impresions.
I would like to know which answer would better reveal your feelings:
Wow
Can not believe it.
Why did I not buy it before?
I had to A/B it to hear a difference.
Well worth the money.
Maybe.

Thanks

Hello Mikeana,

I have not used the SBooster with a Lumin but I have used it with a couple of different units such as Auralic Aries Mini and Bergmann turntable and the result is the same -it brings a great improvement in sound quality!

Hello

I have own the D1 for a month, and now i have bought a Sbooster and it s so good that the reviews say. I have never bought a singel component the have done so much difference in my sett up. (positive:-) .
So for me- Wow and well wort the money.

I have had my D1 for a little bit now. The Sbooster was a significant improvement and well worth the money.

We sell and use both the SBooster and Linear Tube Audio's LPS+ with the LUMIN D1. As you have read in other posts, it's a really nice upgrade!

Happy listening!
Mike

While we're discussing external LPS for D1, it seems that we have received customer feedback saying having an external power supply for D1 is inconvenient and they prefer an internal power supply.

Putting an internal switched power supply into future productions would mean eliminating the possibility of LPS upgrade - I'm not saying this must happen but this is seriously considered. For those people reading this and considering to buy D1 and may want LPS upgrade in the future, buy the current D1 with external power supply ASAP!

(If this change never happens, then this message will be seen as a scare tactic to sell more units... :| )

U1 already comes with Lumin original LPS - same as S1. Since its proprietary connector is different from the D1 standard connector, it's not possible for any power supply meant for D1 (e.g. Sbooster) to be used on U1 / S1 / A1 / T1.

If you really want to find another power supply for U1, I know that Kenneth Lau custom builds one.

Thank you all for your input. There seems no doubt that it is well wothwhile to upgrade.
To wklie: If some are asking for LPS inside D1 it seems contradictory to Lumins design of having power supply outside the player so as to minimimize noise close to D/A converter?
All the S1, A1, and T1 boast a special external dual toroidal transformer. Only the D1 could improve with upgrade.

Yes I think you're right, from an engineering perspective. I can also understand there are customers who do not like an external power supply if they're never going to upgrade it, in the same way that I don't like an external power supply for the PC monitor.

If a power supply does become integrated into a single box version, it'd probably be a switched power supply, not a LPS. That's why I tell people to buy the current version ASAP.

Anyone upgraded a U1 with Kenneth Lau supply? Any comments?

After looking at the sboosters price tag, I took a look at "Terra Dac" power units: Music Fidelity V90 DAC 12v/2a for $150 including postage.
Does anyone have experience with this brand, and how would it compare to the sbooster?
Would the 2a version be enough for the D1? (D1 Specs say 20 watts which would be 20/12 = 1.67 amps)
If not their next size goes up to 12c/6.5 amps, but is getting near the price of the sbooster.
