I have a friend who recently acquired the Turnberry's. The rest of the system is G2 streaming to an Yggy into Coda 07x & #8 power amp.
The room is small, the speakers were spread apart as to not make that suggested triangle. But my friend assured me after experimenting that placement was best for sound in his room.
My first thought, I was amazed at the quantity and quality of bass. I enjoyed the natural tonality of the speaker. They imaged very well and did the disappearing act. If I had to criticize I didn't hear as much resolution in horn sections as I do on better speakers, like with big band I didn't get that sense of separate horns in a section. On the other hand string sections sounded good. Also, this isn't my system so I can't say for sure if the issue would be the speakers or another part of the system.
I mentioned tonality, voices came off natural, vibes were solid with what I consider proper ringing, acoustic guitar gave you the expected detail and flex of the strings. Sometimes strings can sound hard or strident but not through the Turnberry. They made you just want to keep listening.
Speaking of keep listening, we began to hear something, he turned the music down a bit and realized we were hearing the tornado warning. So session over and off the 2nd floor into the basement we went.
Over 8k for a single driver 2-way speaker I'd hope it would perform, the Turnberry did not disappoint and I consider them performing above their range. I can say this because earlier in the week I was with another friend who installed a $20k amp to drive a $10k set of speakers, the $20k amp sounded much better than the one it replaced but those $10k speakers were a disappointment. If it was meI'd be embarrassed to say what that system cost based on what I was hearing. I digress but we really need to listen to as much as we can before purchasing.
I forgot to say this was also my very first Tannoy speaker I heard. Based on my audition if I was to ever buy new speakers Tannoy would be on my list.
