Are these the same speaker? I think I read somewhere that they are. I know the 40th Anniversary versions of Harbeth speakers have been discontinued. They were a limited production speaker. The Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversaries are killer sounding speakers, BTW. VERY sweet sounding and well balanced speaker. Superb mids and top end with nice, tight, bass.

From what I understand, the new XD incorporate the slight changes that were introduced in the 40th Anniversary models (mostly crossover tweaks and upgrades). While the 40th Anni also had WBT binding posts, I don't believe they are on the XD series? Mike?

I read a review that said if you own the Anniversary speakers, there’s really no need to get the XD series. But upgrading from an older series will be beneficial.

I definitely want the 30 XD and would love to hear the 40 XD. :)

That is correct, the 40th Anniversary models have WBT binding posts, but the XD models do not.

The Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary is the perfect match for my 27’ x 14’ listening room. Superb sounding speaker. I highly recommend it.
