gillian welch + dave rawlings | all the good times

it has been so damn long since gillian welch has released a new record that this happy event deserves its own thread.

this release with dave rawlings getting equal billing has them switching off lead vocals on the individual tracks. all good though since theirs is perhaps the best pairing of voices that i heard.

ten acoustic covers recorded at home on a reel-to-reel... bam!!

having a lot of fun with this album and the play-count is high !!

very engaging simplicity and minimalism with just two guitars and two voices ...and although they state it was recorded at home on a reel-to-reel, the SQ is so off the charts that i am going with the recording being done at welch's independent label: acony records which does record to tape. that would in effect be a home recording, right?

the two dylan tracks are appropriately done as dylan would have performed them -- but mercifully, sans the wretched harmonica.

;)

i see the LP is now sold out ...you snooze, you lose

placed my pre-order earlier today.....

almost sprung for the earlier pressing for $160 plus shipping a month ago on Discog. glad i resisted the urge.

Thanks. Just ordered it. My experience is that you have to go through their site - my local retailer can’t get these for me. Note that the delivery for the album last year was well after their projected date.
