I brought home a set of bookshelf speakers to listen to. The dealer didn't have towers. I was thinking at least the bookshelf would give me an idea of the character.
Here's where my question comes in. I notice the images on the sound stage seem smaller to scale from what I am used to. I've heard several bookshelf speakers before but never heard or notice this. Granted I don't recall playing bookshelf speakers on my current set up.
The sound stage seems large enough just the images sound small, like a trumpet is more of a pin opposed to what you'd imagine the sound from the bell to be, piano noted sound smaller, more pinpoint, vocals sound like coming from a small head or further away. I hope this makes sense, I mean it's not so grossly different someone would walk in and say what's broke but it's enough below scale that I notice it. I don't notice anything out of order when listening to my daughter's KEF R3's.
It's also enough that I'd be concerned that even the tower version might do this.
