Has anyone tried (CAT 7) Audiophile ethernet cables (AudioQuest-Nordost etc..)

looking for feedback, only seen a few positive online reviews...

wanted to use it from my "Switch-to-Lumin"

AQ Cinnamon looks like a good starting point?

I'm about ready to buy Transparent's new ethernet cables...heard em at my dealer...about $250 for a meter. Surprising that these matter...but they do...

I use the AudioQuest Diamond. I have a client who bought a sh!t load of AudioQuest Vodka Ethernet cables from me and he loves the improvement. That seems to be the sweet spot.

We use the Furutech Lan-7 with excellent results (Note - We are an authorized Furutech dealer). We use them between the Lumin L1's and various Lumin Network Players.

Happy listening!

Reach your nearest Nordost dealer for a demo
The Ethernet cables do work on our Systems

Hi Le Roy - Many thanks! Hopefully, with our computer, engineering and Lumin experience we can add some useful insight to a great forum!

has anyone compared or A/B different brands. like AQ Vodka/Diamond and Nordost Heimdall also Chord etc....

hard to find a Local dealer that carries the premium ethernet cables to demo/try out

Thanks to Everyone...

I picked on loan from my dealer some audioquest cables that cost more than my Dac and when compared to my cat6 cable I got from a IT guy from my old job , guess which cable I'm using.

The IT guy.....Seriously, start with Molex or Panduit 6a first. Still not convinced then go straight for Cat8.

CatF/7, Fa/7a is unadaptable and not widely used and will die out in favour of Cat8 which is properly backward compatible.

HiFi branded Cat7 is an expensive gimmick IMO.

I am a firm believer that cables do matter and in context of Ethernet in HiFi, it is about the shielding.

Personally I also believe shielding matters. Which school of thought do you belong to?
(1) shielding is preferred due to noise
(2) shielding is not preferred due to ground loop
(3) shielding should be present from the source but be left floating in the target (e.g. using kapton tape)

Steve my IT guy was a design engineer at Bell Labs who worked for me. We always called him our IT guy.

This is not an endorsement, and not a recommendation.

This is merely a FYI. We have never tested it. My guess is whether this improves things or not would be setup-dependent, perhaps related to how noisy the router or the NAS is.

A Lumin user, and quite a number of CAS users, have reported positive results with USD149 Paul Pang Audio (PPA) Grade Ethernet Switch from Taiwan:
http://ppaproduct.blogspot.com/2015/07/audio-grade-switcher.html

This guy toke a 100Mbps (not 1000Mbps) ZyXEL ES-105A V3 Ethernet switch and modified it with "Low Jitter TCXO module with Silver Output Transformer". (Note: the PSU that came with the switch is still an ordinary SMPS, not a LPS.)

To use it, connect the WiFi router to port 1 of this switch, and the network streamer to port 5 of this switch. (Note: if you connect the NAS to port 4 of this switch as the Hong Kong dealer recommends, this will slow down your NAS file copy due to downgrade from 1000Mbps port to 100Mbps port.)

Well, after i got my Lumin T1, i read on internet about the ethernet cables and what differences they could make.
So i thought why not just try a AudioQuest Cinnamon, and see what it would do. From Switch to Lumin T1, and just have to say i was amazed how good that was.
So now when i complete my plan on Room Treatment, i will probably try out the AudioQuest Vodka.
And as one other mentioned it would be really interesting to see / hear if there would be differences between brands.

recently bought a 'Revelation' Cat '8+' ethernet cable and will be comparing it to an AQ 'Diamond' and a WireWorld 'Platinum' cable for the next week or so. The Revelation cable is great. I also have been demoing a WW 'Starlight' cable ...model 1 down from the 'Platinum' and it is very good also. Better than the AQ 'Vodka and Cinnamon'.....stay tuned

Now my decision to stay with a direct attached USB is looking better and better. :)

Unfortunately, I did find my 1TB drive sounds better than the 500GB drive. Go figure. LOL
