Has anyone compared these two models? I'd love to hear about the differences other than sensitivity. Room size is 13 X 17 and I listen mostly to jazz and singer/songwriter. I have a 300b and an 845 SET I believe would be good matches. Thanks.

When I compared them a couple of years ago, I thought that the O/96s bettered the O/93s in every way by a little bit. Not huge but def better. I really liked the size and look of the O/93 so I was really trying to go for them but in the end after listening bought the O/96s.

In case you might be interested, there's an event at the Chicago area DeVore dealer tonight (in Skokie) for the premier of the new Gibbon X speaker with John DeVore in attendance.

I own O96's and have heard the O93's quite a few times and compared them in the same room. I think both are really well designed and sound great. For me it didn't seem like that much extra money to get the 96's so why not. If I owned the 93's I would be completely happy with them without a need to upgrade, so you can't go wrong.

I heard the O/93s at Whetstone Audio in Austin, great shop and great owner. It was paired with a Leben CS600 integrated. I listened to some Simone White and Ella Fitzgerald w/ Louis Armstrong on vinyl in a sort of near field setting. It was a great experience, definitely the encompassing wall of sound effect with a lot of boogey. Great tone and bass and I found them very coherent and involving. Wonderful organic sound. I could live with the O93.

On a recent trip to another Devore dealer, his opinion was that the O96s needed more power than a 300b can provide. I found that shocking as that's pretty much the singular low powered tube amp you would want to use to drive the O96s, and the fact that I've read so much about how great it sounded with 300b tubes and the like.

I would assume if you're intent on using the 300b the O96 would be better, and the 845 could easily drive either. If you're using the Line Magnetic 845 monster tank amp, I think either speaker is known to have great synergy with that amp.
