By blowing the dust off your speakers, you need to be careful that you don't spit on them. Camera manufacturers warn about using your mouth/breath on lenses and leaving behind droplets of saliva, by accident of course. They recommend low pressure rubber squeeze bulbs as an alternative to blowing on them.

So please be careful and use common sense.

Joe.......I have never felt the need to dust any of my speaker drivers. I will tighten the driver screws from time to time but keep my hands off the drivers. When I read the thread title I assumed the discussion was about caring for speaker cabinets and finish. I do spend time caring for the speaker enclosures. On my walnut veneered JBL 4312A and PMC EB1i speakers I use Howard Feed-N-Wax, available at Home Depot. On my Sonus faber Amati Anniversario speakers I use Dunlop Formula No. 65 Guitar Polish, available at most musical instrument stores and online at Sweetwater.com and Amazon.

The Howard Feed-N-Wax is a beeswax and orange oil penetrating polish that restores the rich color and natural beauty to wood veneers. I usually apply it every couple of years. The Dunlop Formula No. 65 is a spray guitar polish and cleaner that provides a deep rich luster to delicate finishes and leaves my Amati Anniversario's, as well as my expensive guitars, glistening, clean, and silky smooth.

Had chuckle at this--many many Moons ago Ken Kessler advocating wiping the Cones/Domes/etc with the Canon Clear Cloth-not only did it remove dust but imparted some semi mystical effect

on the said Drivers to enhance the aural presentation--os something similar.

I still have mine--gulp!-

Did anyone read the comments at the bottom?
I found this disturbing. Why would you not tighten loose screws holding your drivers to the cabinet?

Hi. My question is still not being answered. Should I tighten the screws on the woofers? How tight should we go and how often should we do it? I know we shouldn't do it for the tweeters.

I have heard back now, and generally speaking, it is not something that's needed, Feng Shen Wee :-)
