Chord Dave

I have the predecessor QBD76HD (MSRP $7,200). Great sound with prodigious bass. Dave at $13.3k is quite a big price jump and not sure if it's worth it with other formidable competitors in that range.

There are some ex QBD76 owners on the Head-Fi thread who now own the Dave and ITO it is a big step up in performance.

For what is worth, Dave got a 91% score on sound quality in the HiFi News review vs 90% for the full dCS Vivaldi system; It measures better too.

No doubt it's a step up in performance than QBD. Just think there's a lot more competition at >$12k.

It looks stunning.

At its price that remote though!

Couldn't they make something like this?

PCM Depth of presence is the performance claim of this DAC!

Possibly the BEST PCM DAC currently available. Apparently is does DSD well also but there are mode switching issues.

This is one DAC that interests me immensely but I will probably wait to see what the next generation after Dave brings.

It just goes to show how overpriced those other similarly performing DAC stacks are.

I suspect it will be a long wait judging by the life cycle of Chord's prior DACs.

As an owner of an MSB Diamond Plus and a HUGO and am definitely going to give this a try. I think the HUGO, while not as good as the MSB Analog, is awesome. I am really hoping to do shootout between my MSB and DAVE.

While there may be some "more competition >12K" I am not sure if they are better or not. Who knows, at 13.5K if it outperforms a Rossini, an MSB and a Vivaldi stack it may be the biggest bargain out there.

Dave arrived , plain and simple , I listened no better than this before neither from digital transport nor from USB input.

Dave was very good when I heard it in Warsaw. I prefer my GG with the plethora of tubes and R2R PCM engine, but I really like DAVE and hated the Hugo.

Dave in Black looks gorgeous. Only if they consider a stripped down less costly version (minus volume control and headphone amp)..
I wouldn't mind removing DSD section altogether if it meant lower price.

You mean a Dave lite with no DSD and no HP out? Just for PCM purists? Not a bad idea.
