Check this out

Is that the right price?

In the review it says $1499, which since they DON'T say per pair, I assume is EACH, which still is inexpensive for such a large amplifier.

It said 1499/ea at the end of the review.

Still - that is a screamin' price for what may be a giant-killer.

For home theater - I can't think of a better company to buy gear from - especially for someone who has champaign tastes on a beer budget. Big power amps that can really reproduce every crash, boom bang.

I wasn't a fan of my Emo amps for two channel....but for my HT - they were great.

It would still be fun to get a pair to see what they can really put out on the 1K's tho. Even if just for S&Gs.

'not nearly expensive enough to be taken seriously by true "high-enders" :D

You're right E , it's priced @ 1,279.00 each , they're currently having a sale price on their website

Not enough finesse for two channel I'm guessing.

John - just not musically involving. Kind of cold sounding actually and not the best for tonal balance. I had a stereo amp - McIntosh 302 at the same time and it routinely beat the Emotiva XPA-1's I had for over sonic quality and balance. This XPR-1 might be a step up...I don't know. That being said, Emotiva has created a monster powerful amp for an incredibly good price. It's not the last word in sonics clarity and tonal balance, but its very good for what it is.

....but you just can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.....sorry.....I owned them and liked them for what they were (great for my home theater). My Classe CA-5300 and little Marantz amp has those duties now and it was a big big step up - even for "boom, boom, pow!" LOL.

* Audioholics is a website supporting all Emotiva products. ...It is part of Emotiva's team of main advertisers.
...So all Emotiva product reviews are always very good. ...Highly bias.

Only when you know that for a fact that you have to take their reviews with a large grain of salt.
- They'll never talk about things like Reliability, Fine intricate details, Macro/Micro dynamics, hi end performance at one (1) watt, matched with hi end loudspeakers, etc. ...The main accent is on Power (8 and 4 Ohms), then THD, IMD, Dumping Factor, Freq. Response, weight (scale), and other measurements of the sort.

A better barometer to judge appropriately is from "true audiophile" Emotiva owners.
...Always come back down to this: Power, power, power, lack of finesse, and reliability issues.

Never, and I mean never you'll see some of those amps powering true hi-end loudspeakers, and where the owners are living with them for a reasonable amount of time, and with pure satisfaction.
No sir, they'll all get something else to power them speakers after trying them other and better amps.

If you have some Bose or Klipsch or Polk or Definitive Technology speakers, then they're a good match, I think, for Emotiva amps. ...No dishonor to them owners.
