OK, I'll admit, I am having a little heart burn over cables. I have my system in place, but I just don't know which direction to go in for cables. A full Shunyata Anaconda loom. Transparent (I could afford to do the top of the line speaker cables, but then only middle of the road IC's and PC's). Full TaraLabs Omega Gold loom. Maybe a combination of two or three of the above? Maybe something else I'm not thinking of. I have the TaraLabs Omega Gold speaker cables and they are excellent, but I can also use those on the Magico S5 system.

I would welcome some input....

Mike,

I would go in one of two directions - Shunyata or Transparent. Anacondas are terrific and you know how good they sound for a "reasonable" amount of money. Transparent are neutral and have very good synergy with D'Agostino and Wilson - although more expensive.

My 2 cents...

Go with Transparent
Your speaker and D'agostino comes with that brand.

But I prefer MIT, for me is better than Transparent.
Second option : Nordost ODIN

Mike - I'm sticking with Shunyata. I ordered the Anaconda for the Triton and moving the Python to the a D'Agostino amp. Adding the Alpha to the a Bryston BDP-2.

Mike - how would you describe the Shunyata sound? Warm? Neutral? I added the Shunyata Alpha Digital cable and I would call its performance quite remarkable.

Just curious if you end up mixing and matching. Where would you use the Transparent and where would you use the Tara labs?

Mike,

I find Shunyata very revealing and accurate with excellent dynamics. Their cable are not edgy or bright. Also have experienced improvements with lower freaquencies.

i find them to be excellent all around performers at a reasonable price.

Thx!

I tend to agree Mike and funny enough - the best I ever heard the Alexia/Dag combo sound was with an all Shunyata loom.

Everyone keeps telling me to go Transparent....

Let's face it. If you don't, you'll always wonder and regret not just buying them in the first place. Just do it!

Easier said then done! I ran the numbers, and do do a basic loom would be $80,000. That's insanity. They can't be that much better than TaraLabs Omega Gold and maybe not as good! I would have to hear them in my system before I made any kind of commitment. I've heard the Alexia's with Transparent and it was just ok...nothing special. The Shunyata was excellent and my own TaraLabs is outstanding.

Do have a look at Stage 3 Concepts , try them out if a loaner is available , you might just be pleasantly surprised .

Also at least for one of the places you heard the Dag/Alexia/Shunyata combo (Audio Concepts) - they were using Zitron Python cables not Shunyata's Zitron Anaconda top of the line cables.

You also should give the Ansuz cables a listen. They seems to be getting good comments and if you stay away from the D line they are very reasonable in price.

This is exactly why I have a complete Shunyata system in my two channel system. Price versus performance. Shunyata uses science and engineering to design cables that outperform other vendors costing 10-20 times more. I believe the Shunyata marketing, and can live with results (and money saved).

Hey Mike, don't rush or feel rushed. Demo what u can. I am currently using a product from MG audio design out of Colorado. A friend and I compared them to MIT, Cardas beyond clear, Nordost Valhalla 1 and my Silent source-which were what TAD were originally voiced for. I find the price point and 30 day demo trial extremely valuable. These look like a wider version of Nordost. They r a very unigue and have a very detailed and open design with great bass. However it is the speed and openness in soundstage width abd depth in side by side comparison that really wowed me. Also crappy recordings especially female voice seemed a little rounder and less strident. Terminations r unigue with rhodium on one end and silver on the other. Greg the owner is a heck of a nice guy and did a burn in on both jumpers and speaker cables. As always let your ears not $$$$ be your guide. The other concern I had was length effecting capacitance and adequate sheilding as I have very long cable needs. These r much better than my biwire attemps with my CR-1.

I would also recommend going slowly, when you feel you've truly wrapped your hands around your system's sound and they've broken in completely, start fiddling. And, audition cables for at least a week or two as you'll never have an opportunity to play everything and you want the "new/different" to wear off before picking.

Most importantly, have fun!
