If you had $200-$225 to spend on IC, single ended and XLR's what would you buy and why? The cables must be new, not used.

I am just curious as to what budget cables people like. I currently use Tara Labs, AQ, Silnote and BJC's.

BJC is great in my book. I have some and it can be wonderful.

I like KimberKable Hero. ...Because of the copper's purity, and the sound quality I got at the end of it. :)
...Let everything flows like it should; the bass is present, and the vocals are clear, and the ambiance is palpable.

* Look for a sale.

I am not currently in the market for cables but I was just curious. I use BJC's, Tara Labs in my budget systems along with some monster m1000i's that I picked up on audiogon for $20pr.

My main system uses Silnote's and AQ's. I tend to like slightly darker or warmer sounding cable in my main system. I took a chance on a pair of Silnote Morpheus Reference cables at a discount. They sound nice and don't appear to take away anything from the music.

I don't know if Silnote or wire world are considered budget, but they took my system to new heights, it terms of smoothness and transparency

With the Wireworld cables, as long as you stay with Equinox 7 and below which are all copper the prices are reasonable and sound good. The OCC Equinox 7 is $200 for a meter.

I remember liking my Harmonic Tech Magic Link II rcas and pro 9 reference speaker cable.

Another vote for Kimber Hero ICs here. They just sound right. Bass comes through with full sonority, weight, and articulation. Midrange and highs are clear, transparent, and very natural sounding. I think they are the cable to beat at one notch above true entry-level cables. I believe list on Kimber Hero is in that $250 range but it's been a while since I had them in my system so not sure if pricing is a lot higher at this point. Actually just checked on The Cable Company website and looks like 0.5 meter kimber Hero goes for $486! Wow. It's doubled in price since I bought them initially some 7-8 years ago. But used on Agon can be had in the $250 range.

I have Black Cat Lectraline cables which are a bit more but their Neo Morpheus line of cables is also quite good.

try the Kimber Kable PBJ cables, very good cable, probably one of their, best sounding cable (even among the Select line) they are Not, up to Audiophile Jewelry standards, but are a great value:lol:

Bodhi, Dollar for dollar, in my limited experience, if you're looking for budget, the DH Labs air matrix are excellent.The Audience is about 4X more $$$$
Great advice Penthouse as you've got 1st hand experience with both cables :thumbsup:
