I've just ordered a D1 but as I only have a Android phone with a 5 inch screen, the Lumin Android app will not work well on my small screen, which means I will have to use either the Bubble DS Next or Linn Kazoo.

Has anyone used these two apps and found one was better than the other?

Linn Kazoo app is free.

(As for which is better, please try them both and see which UI you like more.)

I use Linn Kazoo on my MacBook and it work`s great, Only down side is that it not show Masters/Mqa on Tidal, but it play it.
Maybe a litt slower work flow.

When first setting up the D1, would there be functions on the Lumin app which would be useful or can I start using either of the two other Android apps and have all functions needed?

I'm wondering if there will be functions on the Lumin app which the other apps won't have?

The Lumin app is required for settings change and firmware upgrade. Hopefully these will work adequately on a 5" device.

I bought a used iPad mini 2 16 gig just to run Jriver and the lumin app. I have run my D1 on BubbleUPnp and jriver both but you can't setup upsample or any other settings without the lumin app. The lumin app is solid. If you have your files on a nas or pic connected to the D1, make sure you are running minimserver. Without it, I had issues getting the files to read properly.

Now i have issues with the Linn Kazoo, it wont bout up, it is standing "Waiting for room......" have deleted and re startet the app, any know what to do ?

Power cycle both the device running Kazoo and the Lumin player. Make sure the device is on WiFi before launching Kazoo.

I have just installed 'BubbleUPnP' (and paid for the licence) on my mobile.
What a great app. Seems to do all the basics perfectly.
Not looked into it properly yet, but it seems I can stream content from Soundcloud aswell which is a bonus.

It is basic but it has no problems doing lossless and uncompressed wav ( all my stuff is in uncompressed wav) I also use bubbleupnp on my chromecast audio using the optical out on my other rig.
