aurender n150 vs n200 vs n20........

quick question, looking for a streamer only for my bedroom system which consist of a Accuphase e800 integrated with dac and phono card, will be using usb between streamer, I know the n20 is better but how much better for a secondary system, thoughts.....

also, anything else I should consider, I like the aurender app but not stuck to aurender only if something else I should consider that works really well with usb, thanks

N20 is THE aurender to buy for the money. However, a sleeper streamer perfect for a second system is the INNUOS Pulsar.

The Aurender N20 is excellent as Mike has stated. I know first-hand just how good it is because I wrote the review of it for The Absolute Sound.

It's also....$12,000.

The reason I recommended the Eversolo DMP-A6 is because for a bedroom system, at a price of $895, it would be an superb value proposition*, with an excellent feature set and performance for the price.

*-Where Value=Quality/Price.

Not all reviewers are in love with the M6, example Future Audiophile, didn't talk bad but didn't gush as it was a giant killer. I doubt someone who uses Accuphase in the bedroom is worried about buying the cheapest thing to get by. Sometimes it sounds like kickbacks are given for suggestions. If the N20 was mentioned then the OP must have been aware of the price.

The reviewer didn't put the M6 even above the Node, I can tell you the Node isn't even close to the same league as even my Aurender. It's my opinion ridiculous to use entry streamers with higher quality gear, it's a waste.

it's still my leading candidate (Eversolo) for my kit as well, spending over 12k for streamer on a bedroom system is ridiculous IMO .....

ridiculous, why is that? I have a nice large bedroom that I enjoy music in, thanks for your opinion:weird:

Another Streamer you might consider is the new Lumin U2. Less than half the cost of the N20. Has a shielded, internal LPS, a superb clocking system, supports optical LC/LC connection for networked connections from upstream music servers and routers, and a new, dedicated to audio USB port for connecting to a DAC. You can also connect an external HD with music files on it for source material. Also utilizes innovative LEEDH volume control system.

Something that is unique with the U2 is it has a new, direct-coupled, dedicated-to_audio USB-A port for connecting to DACs.

I've had one in for review for about 5 months, and it's really superb.

Personally, the Lumin U2 would be my choice for a "standalone" Streamer/Transport.

And yet another option is the newly released Auralic S1 utilizing the newest Tesla G3 engine. Also gives you the option of adding an additional external power supply if you choose.

I always recommend people not to use the internal DAC inside the amplifiers.

Consider a pure streamer (without built-in DAC) only if you are using a standalone (Accuphase) CD player or DAC.

In case you are interested in the Lumin product line, check out our P1MINI (or D3 at a lower price point) and use the analog balanced connection to Accuphase instead of U2 series.

If you wish to use Lumin app volume control (including Tidal Connect / Spotify / Roon app volume) instead of Accuphase volume, connect the Lumin to the Accuphase Main In, and set the Main In phase from "2-" to "2+" (pin 2 hot). Set Lumin Analog Output Level to Low, and turn down the volume to a very low level before you play anything. If you do not use the Accuphase Main In (i.e. use the Accuphase volume control), set either Accuphase Invert Phase or Lumin app Invert Phase but not both.

The Lumin app is like an 80's video game where you find the lock, look for the key, open the door, wrong door, try another, find right door, go back up three levels, do the thing. Over and over again until you memorize the meaning of all those no-label icons and the difference between a songlist on the right and a playlist on the left. Then realize Tidal and Spotify connect are much handier and adding a playlist to the Lumin player onboard "playlists" is as easy as long touch of a Tidal playlist (for instance) and using the drop down, or is it pop up, menu. Of my Bluesound, Lumin and Aurender streamers, the Node, N200 and U2 mini rate 1,2,3 in that order for slick, friendly and intuitive.

Anyone using an Aurender N20 able to improve upon the musical presentation by adding an ethernet switch with built in clock, or an Innous USB reclocker, or a Berkeley alpha USB, or just get rid of the USB and use AES/EBU? If I choose an ethernet switch, it would be synchronized with my LAN optical isolator. Btw, my dac does not have a clock input. Thanks.

I use the Ediscreation OCXO Silentswitch with my N20 which seems to work similarly to a Netgear switch with iFi iPower Elite LPS. I also use a Gigafoil v4 inline with the Ethernet cable between the switch and the N20 (ie. wall -> Ediscreation switch -> Gigafoil -> N20). Note that I haven't actually tried to switch this upstream (ie. wall -> Gigafoil -> Ediscreation switch -> N20) so I might be going overkill on the ethernet filtering here. (I had the wall -> Netgear switch -> Gigafoil -> N20 combo prior to getting the Ediscreation switch.)

Before all this gear, it sounded worse for sure.

Less = more

The best switch is no switch. The best reclocker is no reclocker.

Listening without switch is reached by storing the music files directly to an internal SSD.

Reclocking is not needed if jitter is prevented by clocking the streamer and streamer output instead of clocking the audio output.

The preferable order is: streamer with files stored on an ssd, dac, amp, speaker. Every other electronic device in the chain decreases sound quality.
