Either of these amps were very highly recommended to drive Quad 57's. Has anyone heard one? If so I'd welcome opinions/reviews.

Heard them many times, great sound. They have quite a strong following.

According to Robin Wyatt, he settled on the Emitter I after a long shootout with every amp under the sun--tube or SS--that was purported to be a great match with the Quad. David Chesky also uses an Emitter on his 57s. IIRC, Robin's current darling for driving 57s (his reference speaker) is DNM Design gear from the UK. Not cheap, like $20k for a small stack of plastic boxes that altogether barely weighs 20 lbs.

Robin and Chesky’s second favorite amp for the 57’s was the Rogue Atlas Magnum. I picked one up last week and it does drive them quite nicely, with authority, for around 1/10th of the Emitter’s price.

then you don't need an Emitter :) use those funds you would have spent to buy music.

FWIW I use a Marantz 8b on mine and IMO its as good as it gets. The early atlas had EL-34s which I like on 57s, yours has KT120s or ?

Actually Chesky and company liked the Magnum variant which did add KT120’s to the mix.
