About ten years ago my wife and I ran two XLO cables in our system (one LE-2 interconnect (pre-amp to amp) and the Ultra-12 bi-wire speaker) and found them to be a nice match for what we had at the time given our budget. While the LE-2 was pricey back then, we were able to source a greatly reduced price for a demo pair and ran them until we found something better to our ears. We felt their strengths lied in dynamics and speed without sounding overall bright as others' do to our ears (again, at the time...cables have moved significantly on since then)
The Ultra-12 speaker cables were a nice balanced design that punched at a level way above what you might expect at the price point for a 3m bi-wired pair. Then did not compete with the really big boys, but they also didn't do anything even moderately wrong and were very musical to our ears. We moved away from the Ultra-12s when we moved to a speaker that no longer needed (or even supported) a split bi-wire set of connections.
All in all, I feel that the XLO cables we had at the time provided very high performance. However, as I mentioned above, cables and cable technology have moved rather quickly from the time we had the XLOs and while we no longer have these cables to compare with modern designs; we feel you can find options that would better the LE-2 at inflation-adjusted prices. From my recollection of their sound, the Ultra-12s would still be very solid competitors today even at their full retail price, but I am sure you can get a used pair for far less at this point given how old they are.
