Just got my AMR DP-777. Now begins the long wait for break-in. I've heard people quote anywhere from 500-1000 hours...ugh! :disbelief: Right out of the box it didn't make that big of an impression on me over my Bryston BDA-1, but I have no doubts that will change as the break-in progresses.

Thanks guys! Coming back for another short listen while it's been turned on for about 5 hours, it's making more of an impact and is already outdoing the BDA-1. WOOOO!

Grats Casey!!!

I'm loving mine also.. I've been running the AMR DP-777 straight into the Bryston 28's, and I can tell you I'm pretty happy.. :D

So I've got about 300 hours on the unit now and it sounds absolutely amazing. Zero listening fatigue, amazing soundstage and imaging that I've been after for a long time. Can't wait to see what the next few hundred hours of break-in bring! The difference between taking it out of the box and now is startling. It's like a completely different DAC.

I'd put up pics but you'd scold me for how I have things set up...temporarily. :)

That's excellent! I love tube DAC's!

Casey...what did you have before the Bryston BDA-1? Also, are you still using the BDP-1 as a transport with the DP-777? Congrats again!

Thanks, the Bryston was my first outboard DAC unless you count the McIntosh MCD500 that I sometimes used as a DAC. Before that I used the DAC in the Anthem D2v which I've also since sold.

Thanks, I've read most of those CA threads on the DP-777 multiple times. :D I'd like to comment on the bass energy as it's been mentioned in multiple reviews. While the DP-777 definitely has less bass than the Bryston BDA-1, I found that with the Bryston I often thought there was too much bass on some albums. Now those same albums sound just right. However the albums that had enough bass before still seem to have enough. Kinda weird, but I'm diggin' it. :exciting:

Forgot to answer your other question, yep, I'm still using the BDP-1. I really like it and see no reason to upgrade to the new one or go to a different product.
