I sold my Classe CA-2300 and CP-800 for no other reason than to try something different. No, there is nothing wrong with the Classe gear - its excellent. But, I've got my main system sounding so darn good, that my tinkering desires will have to be on the family room system. My family room system is now amp/preampless.

I'm leaning towards mc452/c2500 combo or possibly, a Devialet for my sonus faber guarneri memento's. But, I'm open to other ideas, thoughts, suggestions.

I know someone who has a ModWright KWI-200 with SF GM's Mike and is very happy with the combo!

Soulution 520, trust me.....it just fits into any system & I've put it in a few. Everyone I ask if they'd like to hear it in their system leaps at the chance & all are seriously impressed, I even have a waiting list if I choose to move onto another, :D :fingers:

Mike,

You know what I think of Soulution, but that's heavy money for a second system. If you're doing that, I'd get the 530 integrated. But I'd also look at integrated choices from Boulder, Sim, ARC and even Peachtree. I've heard all of those choices with SF, in demos or at shows, and they sounded great. Keep it simple -- one box, fewer cables.

Devialet would also be an excellent choice, and that really is a one-box solution and no cables. I haven't heard it with SF though.

The Wadia has me intrigued. But no Phonostage (unlike the Devialet). Has anyone heard the Wadia?

veloce seems to b a really popular choice at many shows and no need for any type of power conditoner needed esepecially if you consider their amps as well.

Thanks Nick. I can't seem to get their website to load.

Mike,

It's Class D. Unlike the Devialet, which is a mix of Class A and D (proprietary tech). I wouldn't bother with it, specially now that you can get a Devialet for the same money.

I'd also look into a darTZeel CTH-8550 integrated. Has everything, including a very good phono stage. It's not cheap, but IMO, it'd be the best "simple" solution.

My budget is under $10k. Not sure I could get into the front door of the Dart dealer for that! :)

I thought the Devialet was $16k ish ? I know they have three different models, but I would need the one with the biggest cojones. The Mementos can be tricky to drive.

For $10k, you'll likely end up with the middle model, 170W. Does everything, including phono, but yeah, don't know about DSD. Has a streamer built-in, though, so you can just send music from your computer to it, no wires.

As I said, the Wadia is Class D, and for that reason alone, I wouldn't buy it.

Perhaps you could go with a cheap amp, like the Job 225 that Joe is testing, and a decent mid-price DAC, like the Mytek or Calyx. That'll set you back about $5k. If you want to get serious, a Bricasti DAC is (or was) about $9k.

Vitus Audio RI-100? 300Wpc for $13K, optional phono card. With a decent discount, can get you close to $10K...
