have about 20 hours on it so far... and, i will forgo all the audiophile adjectives and get straight to the bottom line: this thing is so good it will make you slap your granny (as the saying goes)!

truth be told, they sound quite similar. it is just that the air tight SQ is on a higher level -- every aspect of that SET goodness is operating in overdrive. the sound is quite rich and textured. it is also "authoritative" throughout the frequency range. the bass is the best i have heard in any tube amp.

the real comparative test will be in a month or so when i plan to swap the almarro back into the system and see what i think after hearing the air tight.

anyway, this makes me appreciate how good an amp the almarro really is ...at ~15% the price in terms of msrp, it packs a serious punch. even after hearing the air tight in my system, i could still be more than happy with the almarro as my main amp. it just a tragedy the company is not around any longer.
