All:

I am considering bidding on a used Denon DP-30L MKII turntable and would like to hear from those that already own or have used one. The specs look pretty impressive to me, rumble at -78 dB, wow and flutter at 0.015%. This is as good as or better then the very famous Technics SL1200 MK II with the same rumble figure and wow and flutter at 0.025%.

Does the actual experience with this turntable live up the performance sugested by these specs? The machine is heavy, over 9 kilograms (between 18 and 20 pounds) so it sugests it is rugged. Does it actually seem that way in practice? Finally, will the arm accept and track a high compliance cartridge like the Shure V15 III?

I would also welcome any other comments or sugestions reguarding this turntable.

Thank you

Awesome table and a great buy for anywhere near $120. It's a great performer because it has a very heavy chassis, smooth belt drive, and a low mass straight tonearm that accepts P-mount cartridges.
Denon tables are known for long term reliability, exceptional performance, and class leading aesthetics. Denon tables look like they cost much more than they do...and always perform beyond their price point as well.

I can tell you that table is definitely better than the Technics if you won't be DJing with it. I have a DP47-f I bought NOS and am very pleased with it. That whole -f series of tables Denon did in that time (pre-90s) up through the DP61-f are pretty darn good actually in my opinion. I have to say though that the "goodness" of course depends on condition. Getting one in rough to good condition may be more than it's worth in problems. If it's in excellent condition or even expertly serviced at least, you'll have no worries for some time.
The other worry is does the seller know how to ship a TT?
