Anything to know ? My tube knowledge could fit on the head of a pin and still have about 90% space left. A bit of advice is kinda of required as I've never touched a tube anything ever. Thanks in advance.

Spec book says it puts out 52wpc 8 ohm, so that should drive the 6 ohm speakers I'm targeting it for. research says to use the 4 Ohm taps with those speakers. Kinda excited a bit.

I wouldn't run these amps with 6 ohm speakers, and certainly not in the 4 ohm taps.

Be careful where you are ordering from as some online places are not really authorized dealers. Looks like a fun amp for the money and I see lots of good reviews.

Shadowfax, I'm buying it locally, slightly used. Put a deposit on it last night and the shops tube tech is giving it a final once over and a bias check before it goes to it's new home, basically plug n play...until I figure out what kind of tubes to swap in. I'm excited yet a bit apprehensive as this is my first tube amp, intergrated mind you.

Ask the shop tech to show you how to bias the output tubes. You will need to know if you're to be rolling some 'hot glass'.
Have fun

Well, after a solid day of research into the thing, I've put the safety back in place on the trigger. A few things have turned me off it.

what didnt you like??

The bias likes to wander a bit more than some other amps. I know I've got a competent DVOM and a steady hand (mechanic by trade) I know I can keep it on the straight and narrow but it's gonna take some work. And yes, I did go and give it an extensive audition on several speakers today to make sure the sample I was looking at was solid. Their on site tube tech took it and me to the shop area and he went through the routine, how to do it right. It eventually did come home this afternoon (on the west coast that is)

thanks for the update , i was just wondering. my cary were a pain to bias. i ended up with a 2 sided guitar jack, and alligator clip the one probe of my meter to that and the other to the ground speaker connector. or buy a $5 meter with a 1/4" plug soldered on for $100 from cary, i chose the first, but luckily it was rock solid once the tubes were biases once, and only had to re do it when changing them.
good luck with yours.

Wandering bias is most likely the tubes. I have some tubes that need to biased after running the amp at high volumes for about an hour. A re-check will show the bias a bit low after listening at normal levels but will be spot on when turned back up. I personally would rather have it a bit low than too high. That said if it's not the tubes (same tube location) it could be a dirty or loose pin in the socket. I use socket savers I got from the tube monger. They do extend the height of the tube and because of that the tube cage will not fit on with some of the taller tubes.

Well, I gave it a good run last night, gonna let it go for most of the day today and tonight I'll put my Snap-On DVOM into the test points on the 2,000MV scale and see if it's holding or not, adjustment isn't difficult as the shop did give me a show and tell on that procedure. However I'm thinking about stopping at the tool store and picking up an extra long 3MM hex key to clear the power tubes during adjustment.

Well colour me dumbfounded...this thing sure snuck up behind me and bit me on the rear end...it's currently making a Harman Kardon HK 3490 120wpc receiver look absolutely stupid with a mere 52wpc, impressive. Will have to do quite a bit more listening before I can formulate a rookie audiophile's type of a review but for now, the thing just sounds sweet.

I have the Yaqin 13S and love it. I changed the input caps and retubed it with very good results.
